Criticism by Ben Wagner

But don't take my word for it....

Although criticism of Odgen Nash is almost impossible to find here
is some analyzation his work:

George F. Whicher
Clearly Odgen Nash is God's gift to the United States.   While
writers of dismally serious intent are a dime a dozen, a genuine comic
talent is nearly priceless.  Mr. Nash is our best literary comedian
since Will Rodgers.  He has become, in a strictly Shakespearean sense,
Americas number one fool, though in any other sense he is nobody's fool.
Mr. Nash's extraordinary faculty for the verbal pyrotechnics is
happily employed in devising unheard - of rhymes, as when he couples
"boomerang" with "zestful tangy Kangaroo meringue"........ He has a keen
eye and a keener nose for what is broadly ridiculous or slightly
affected in current ideas....

Mr. Whicher gives Nash praise which deserving and he also
eplains why Nash is a great poet.  Mr. Whicher writes that his silly
humor often times points out either quirks in society or faults in
relationships.  This criticism was most definitely in favor of Nash and
his work.
